Basic insurance policies plans such as family doctor schemes, HMO or optional deductible limits up to CHF 500, may only be terminated as at December 31. Supplementary Insurance under VVG/LCA Termination of supplementary insurance under VVG/LCA depends on the individual insurance provisions of each health insurance provider. Supplementary insurance contracts may only be terminated with a cancellation period of one up to six months as at December 31 of each year, if no other longer duration has been agreed. In some cases, minimum terms of contract must be observed. The insurance can also generally be terminated within a maximum of 30 days after the announcement of an increase in premium or even by the end of the calendar year. We recommend that you do not terminate an existing policy before receiving definite confirmation of acceptance from the new health insurance scheme.
