Membership Number is 104xxx Mr. Gordon: A request for a free credit report and 30-day trial membership was made to ConsumerInfo.com on 5/17/02.

On 6/2/02 a call was made to the number indicated on ConsumerInfo.com’s website asking that the 30-day trial membership be cancelled, which gives ConsumerInfo.com a two-week notice to cancel this membership before the 30-day period ends, which should be more than enough time for you to remove any temporary holds that you may have placed against the credit card used before the funds are actually taken out.

I am following that phone request up with this letter in order to be sure that there is no question that ConsumerInfo.com has been notified to cancel. All of the information that is provided on your website, as well as any separate correspondence that ConsumerInfo.com has sent to this email address both unsolicited and solicited, states that “the trial period can be cancelled at any time during the 30-day period.”

There is no information of any kind stating that there are any special circumstances/situations/policies whatsoever that would alter that statement, so there should be no delay in cancelling this trial membership. [1] [2] [3] I have become aware, apparently much too late, about some of ConsumerInfo.com’s business practices and, frankly, do not want to do business with a company like ConsumerInfo.com.

All of the complaints that I have read -- dealing with issues such as applicants not receiving “special codes,” placing charges on credit cards after cancellation, claiming that there was no cancellation made, rude employees over the telephone, lying in order to not cancel these memberships, etc. -- have left me feeling very uneasy about how ConsumerInfo.com intends to use the information that was given to them, and how ConsumerInfo.com intends to handle this request to cancel. I am sending cc’s to others so that ConsumerInfo.com cannot claim that it did not receive this follow-up cancellation after the phone cancellation. My decision about your company came in part from:
